Having just completed a record year of reading (31 books completed) I am excited to share my favourites! There were some real gems among my choices, with some classics and great recommendations from friends included.
I was very excited to follow one of my favourites from previous years, “Cutting for Stone” with Verghese’s new publication “The covenant of water”. And it did not disappoint and I can highly recommend it!
David Guterson is always a great read due to his writing often taking place in familiar places east of the Cascades. They are good stories and very enjoyable to read. “The Other” is highly recommended.
I finally tackled the monster “Atlas Shrugged” after so many years of hearing about it. For many this is a favorite; I found it challenging and often dry. But it has a good message to share – jist in a LOT of words! Likely will not read it again though like others have done …
Girl in the Woods and the (highly reviewed?) Evelyn Hugo book did not do anything for me.
Edgar Sawtelle, The New Wilderness and The Piano Tuner are great books. Honourable mentions for travel books such as Blood River and Grandma Gatewood, plus good, easy to read stories like “The wife between us”, “Three Sisters” and “All he ever wanted”.
A wide variety of books! Some titles I have heard about and some you have suggested to me before. Not sure I wish to tackle the “Atlas Shrugged.” Travel books are always a good read. A very busy year of reading for you in 2023 – happy reading in 2024!!!
Reading going well 📖
