Dexter the dog was the star of the day so he deserves the title picture – cute and funny!
Luckily the night was quiet and calm, and the two drunk boys did not stir at all until I was up and packing up my stuff. If they continue the big miles, maybe they will catch me in Washington 🙂
I was back at the Ski Ranch early and had plenty of time to eat some snacks, use the wifi (the restaurant is closed until 11am) and watch mountain bikers and hikers arrive for the day. Lovely temperature in the morning!
Susan arrived and we started the drive to Susanville where we met Kathy. On both legs of the drive (to Susanville with Susan, and then to Klamath Falls with Kathy) I had really interesting conversations, wishing I lived closer to meet more often! We had lunch and I felt special since, besides being wonderful human beings and friends, they are both (retired) female Master Chiefs of the Navy, the highest enlisted rank!
Thanks Susan! I will see you again to ski!
We crossed into Oregon and continued on quiet roads to Klamath Falls. A few packages had arrived at Kathy’s so after getting a few more things at the store and a nice dinner with Kathy and Barb (and playing with Dexter), I started on the reorganizing task (which took me into the night!).
This was my halfway box with resupply for some of the non-food items such as face lotion, pills (I take Turmeric and Greenfood every day) and contact lenses. Tomorrow I have to mail a few things home and up trail, then continue walking from where I left off near Fish Lake Resort!
It looks a bit more organized now …
But first I have to treat my clothes with Permethrin again … an anti-mosquito treatment that is not toxic when dried and keeps bugs away for up to 6 washes. I heard the little skeeters are bad right now!
Oh and I hope your Mac & cheese dinner was ask you hoped for.
I had noodles with beets and carrots instead as the pack is heavy and the Mac&Cheese is so light 🙂 Tonight!!!
Great to see you again Biggi and swap stories. Barb actually said she might like to try a couple of over night hikes. Good sales pitch! Dexter misses you:)
Oh that would be so much fun if you guys could do some weekend hikes! Give Dexter a hug from me! He would enjoy the hiking too I’m sure!
So many wonderful people that you’ve met!
I’m so lucky!!! 🍀
Congrats on making Donner pass and giving the inside story on your resupply. I really appreciate the pictures of how you pack foods. It’s also very cool that you such a great community of friends (Susan and Kathy) to reacquaint with at strategic spots along the journey. Best wishes for the next section.
Thanks Richard! The food situation looks much more organized now … I’ll take a pic for you!
