Rest day and time to hang out with Kathy and Barb (and I got to meet Barb’s mom as well …). Dexter is demonstrating perfectly in the title picture what I did best today 🙂 I’ll miss that guy!
Besides resting and planning next moves, I also learned to make perfect pour-over coffee. Sadly I don’t have the equipment on trail and instant coffee mixed with Carnation Breakfast drink has to suffice … but will practice when home.
Also finalized the next moves! Tomorrow morning, Kathy and I will visit Crater Lake (walk and admire). At 10am I will meet Loura and Theresa (coming from the coast with Loura’s husband), and we will be dropped at Shelter Cove. From there we will hike to Elk Lake together (45 miles in 4 days) where we will be resupplied by Theresa’s partner (I am dropping my food with Loura’s husband). From Elk Lake I will continue on my own to Santiam Pass in 3 days. If I can work out a ride from Santiam to Highway 26, I might even make it to Timberline Lodge on my birthday!! 👍🏻
Better get some sleep now to prepare for the next hiking section. Happy to have company and less distance to cover! Thanks again, Kathy and Barb, for your hospitality and help! 💕
Dexter got the cover photo twice! Best dog ever. You look like a real barista😏. We enjoyed the time Biggi, stay safe and here’s to finding more trail angels🤗🥾.
The angels will never be as good as you 🙂 And yes Dexter is the best dog ever, next to Keyla 🙂
I always appreciate the pictures of your food for the next several days on the trail. What additives do you put with the macaroni to spice it up?
Most days I empty a taco spice capsule onto my food! The Mac&Cheese is a one-off, freeze dried and donated by Kathy!
